Do you live in a country that only permits LHD cars? You probably know that you can get a lot of non-Japanese brands in LHD form from Japan, but what about Japanese makes? Wouldn’t it be great if you could get the high-quality and low mileage of used Japanese cars bought at the auctions in Japan with the convenience of having the steering wheel on the left side of the car?
Up to now this has just been a dream for many buyers in LHD-only countries.
Yes, it’s true that there have been some companies offering conversions. But the problem with these has always been the quality of the parts and labor. Let’s put it this way: The car might appear OK, but you would not want to get into an accident in it. And what’s the point of getting yourself a nice low KM, high quality car only to have it hacked around and have the manufacturer’s parts removed and replaced with low-quality fabrications? It just doesn’t make sense.
There just hasn’t been a good option for buyers who want the bought-direct-from-Japan quality with the convenience of left hand drive… until now.
We are pleased to announce that one of our customers who is experienced in converting LHD vehicles to RHD is looking to start offering high-quality (think grade 4 and above) Japan-bought vehicles converted to LHD using only official manufacturer OEM parts.
No cheap fabrications. No half-hearted efforts. We are talking about a full-on conversion which will turn the RHD Japan-sourced car into a maker-spec LHD car. With the exception, of course, that since the original RHD base vehicle has been looked after so nicely in Japan, it is going to give you many years of service after it has been converted to LHD — and be much nicer than an equivalent locally-bought LHD car.
These vehicles will be converted in the US by professional mechanics from RHD to LHD. They will then be available for shipping around the world. Obviously, Canada would be very quick and easy to ship to by truck, but we think that other international customers will also be interested in the exciting new service — which is why shipping to worldwide destinations will also be available.
Initially, Honda CR-V LHD conversions will be offered, but the line-up can expand based on customer demand and availability of parts. (Remember all the parts used in these conversions are OEM — original manufacturer — parts. Don’t make the mistake of confusing this service with the lower quality conversions being offered elsewhere.)
