2015 Toyota Camry to Get Aggressive FR-S Inspired Look

Toyota has promised big changes for the updated 2015 Camry and now we can report that the new look will draw inspiration from the FR-S sports car.

Much like the Corolla and Avalon received FR-S-style front-end treatments, the Camry will also make the switch for 2015, confirms a source who’s seen the car.

Describing the front end design as “aggressive” our informant said there will be a large lower mesh grille with the Toyota logo above it.  The rear end styling, he informs us, will be more like that of the Lexus ES.

Calling the new look “awesome” he also commented that the interior has received significant updates and has, “much better styling and technology than Accord.”

What isn’t yet known is if the powertrains will receive updates, though our source is not aware of any. Currently Toyota offers a choice of 4-cylinder and V6 engines mated to a 6-speed automatic.

Toyota will debut the 2015 Camry next month at the New York Auto Show.

    I’ll believe it when I see it. I don’t put a whole lot of stock into these “an unnamed source, but we swear that it is legit….” articles that autoguide likes to do. Additionally, given autoguide’s anti-Honda stance as of late, the “better styling and technology than accord” comment is meaningless to me and might as well not be there.

    @shiratori1:disqus The quote you mention came from someone who is close enough to know. Therefore, it’s safe to assume they’re biased. We’d take it with a grain of salt too.

    Does Ford/Chevy/Honda/Nissan/(Fill in the blank) have variation on their designs? Exactly. None.

    I’m not a huge Camry fan myself, but this news excites me. The entire segment strives to out pace the Camry. If Toyota goes all out on this mmc the rest of the industry will have no choice, but to keep up and do the same. From a consumer standpoint, it’s a win.

    Shared design language between all models of your line isn’t necessarily a bad thing, just ask BMW. Then there are examples where it is, like the beak on all Acura models atm.

    I don’t get it. What’s the point of the Scion brand when you start bringing those looks over to Toyota? May as well get rid of Scion if that’s the case…

    If they think that the design for the corolla and avalon looks like the front end of an FR-S, then not only are they blind, but the Camry is gonna disappoint people big-time

    A lot of people seem upset by the apparent styling update, and how it looks similar to Scion. Apparently, those people prefer the bland styling of the Camry as it is now. Both the interior and exterior as far behind and are bland as heck. Can’t always make everybody happy. I’m sure you all will get over it.
