About

“Fuorisalone” is the most important event in the world related to the topic of design. The term is used to define the events and exhibitions that animate the entire city of Milan during the weeklong “Salone del Mobile” happening in April.

The ‘Salone del Mobile’ and ‘Fuorisalone’ define Milan’s Design Week, premiering the latest trends for the forthcoming year and heralding a tidal wave of events, exhibitions and presentations. On this occasion, many important brands located in the design districts, especially in Brera, introduce their new collections and host special events featuring music and teh presence of important artists in the design and art fields. A totally unmissable extravaganza.

“I think that one Salone is not enough to contain all the creativity and that such creativity must be housed outside. I would even say that the establishment of ideas is what you find inside while the opposite is outside, though I don’t know if that is true. Moreover, what I do know is that the Milan Fuori Salone has been a benchmark for the Venice Biennale of Art, for the various fashion weeks in New York, London, Paris, for Documenta, Frieze, Pad, Basel and Miami Basel, the Armory Show and so on”.

The design districts and areas

Although the events are scattered throughout the city, the Fuorisalone recognizes three main districts (Brera, Tortona, Lambrate), four strategic areas (San Babila, 5vie, Porta Venezia and Sant’Ambrogio) and more dedicated projects where the majority of happenings are concentrated:

THE DESIGN DISTRICTS and AREAS:
Brera, better known during this week as Brera Design District
Tortona, known as Tortona Design
Lambrate, known as Ventura Lambrate

San Babila, an area including Durini, Monforte, Quadrilatero
5vie, divided in two areas: 5 VIE art+design and the Sarpi Bridge – Oriental Design Week (in Milan Chinatown)
