2015 Honda Civic Revealed with New Civic Sport Hatchback

2015 Honda Civic Sedan

Honda will apparently showcase several of their new 2015 models at the upcoming Paris Motor Show, and they’re not worried about keeping it a secret. They’ve already released full details for their European Civic and Civic hatchback, along with their CR-V crossover. However, while that’s all well and good, they also showed us a new car has us genuinely excited for their booth in Paris. It’s a new Civic Sport hatchback, which you can see a little further below.

Before we talk about the new Honda Civic Sport, though, let’s quickly talk about what’s new in the regular 2015 Civic:

2015 Honda Civic LX Coupe

First, Honda tells us the Civic will keep all of the new features introduced for the 2014 model year. That means that the exterior and interior – which both received major overhauls for 2014 – will remain largely the same. The few updates are aimed at increasing premium appeal, so you’ll find new headlamps and a sleeker front bumper for the sedan/coupe, along with new side skirts and a rear spoiler for the hatchback.

Inside, the Civic’s cabin has been spruced up with higher quality upholstery, new stitching along the headrest, updated door trim, subtle chrome accents throughout and a piano-black control panel. Without a doubt, the biggest update is the new Honda Connect in-car audio and infotainment system, which runs on Android. Honda tells us that this system “features the familiar pinch, swipe and Functionality of a smart phone on a seven-inch display screen.”

Okay, that’s it for the regular 2015 Honda Civic. Let’s get back to that cool new Honda Civic Sport we mentioned at the beginning of this post…

2015 Honda Civic Sport Hatchback

As you can see, Honda has majorly overhauled the front of the normal Civic hatchback to create a look that’s extremely aggressive and reminiscent of the future Civic Type R. You’ll see the front fascia features a stunning black mesh grille coupled with matching 17-inch alloys, while the backside of the Civic Sport features a color-coded rear spoiler.

Unfortunately, even though it looks like a Civic type R, don’t expect it to perform like one. The Civic sport will only be available with either a 1.6L diesel rated at 118hp or a 1.8L petrol that offers 140hp. Neither option is exactly thrilling, so you’ll buy the Civic Sport– which is admittedly eye-catching – purely for the sports appeal, not the sports performance.

Still, we’re excited to see the new Honda Civic Sport and the rest of the 2015 Honda Civic and CR-V lineup in one week’s time at the 2014 Paris Motor Show.
