Japanese Car Auction Find – 2010 Honda CR-Z for Sale

A couple days ago Honda Performance Development revealed a new supercharger kit for all Honda CR-Zs through the 2014 model year. With a variety of tweaks and tune-ups, the HPD kit is an affordable way to turn your mildly sporty coupe into a jaw-dropping hot-rod.

But, you already knew that.

What you may not know is that our Japanese car auction system makes it even more affordable to get your own CR-Z. Which brings us to today’s auction find – a pristine 2010 Honda CR-Z up for auction in Yokohama. Check it out:

The exterior is clearly in excellent condition, well above what you’d expect from the 41,000 kilometers on the odometer. The auction sheet at the bottom of this post will show that there are zero blemishes across the entire exterior for an immaculate rating of 5. The A-grade interior is just as good.

As you can see, even though this is a 2010 car, it’s far from outdated. This is the same model that won Japan’s Car of the Year Award in the year of its release thanks to a striking combination of efficiency and affordability. It also won a number of green car awards across the US and Europe, which brings us to what lies under the hood.

This 2010 Honda CR-Z runs on a 1.5L inline-four VTEC engine that produces a reasonable 156hp, paired up with Honda’s Integrated Motor Assist (IMA) hybrid system. Unlike the Prius and other advanced, electric-only capable hybrids, the Honda CR-Z uses a small 20hp electric motor that accents the fuel efficiency of the petrol engine. Classified as a sport hybrid coupe, it’s not intended to match the 50+mpg of the more expensive hybrids. Instead it offers “just” really good fuel economy – rated somewhere in the 37mpg range – in exchange for a substantially lower price tag.

As for specific features, this particular model comes with automatic air conditioning, built-in navigation, power steering and power windows, along with alloy wheels to top it all off. This model year of Honda’s sport hybrid coupe is only ever available with front-wheel drive, and the pearl white paint job is even more radiant in-the-metal than it is in pictures.
