Japanese Car Auction Find – 2010 Infiniti FX35 for Sale

Yesterday we learned about a possible new addition to Infiniti’s lineup of crossovers. You may remember that we narrowed it down to a few options; a smaller Infiniti Q30, a larger Infiniti Q80 or a flagship range-topping coupe. For today’s Japanese car auction find, we’re going to take a look at an old Infiniti model that’s now known as the Infiniti Q70, but used to go by a different name. Ladies and gentlemen, feast your eyes on this 2010 Infiniti FX35 crossover SUV:

As you can see, even though this car is almost 5 years old now, it still bears a very sporty look that holds up to the standards of today’s premium vehicles. You can see why Infiniti was long considered ahead of their time for their car’s designs… You might even believe it if we told you this was a brand-new Q70 coming out next year.

Being a 2010MY, this particular model would’ve been one of the last to be sold under the FX nameplate. This Infiniti FX35 falls in the car’s second generation (2008 – 2012), which features a completely redesigned interior to help the car hold up to modern standards. This means you’ll enjoy Infiniti’s cutting-edge Hard Drive Navigation System with voice-recognition, turn-by-turn directions, and surprisingly contemporary infotainment technology including digital music storage.

You’ll also find stitched leather seats throughout, along with a classy matte-black finish that can’t be fully appreciated in mere pictures (below).

And what else jumps out right away? Yes, this is an LHD car! So we have a Japanese brand vehicle in Japan (which is an RHD country), but the car itself is LHD. What’s the deal with that? Well, it’s really pretty simple: This model is not available in Japan, so someone has bought one in the US and brought it into Japan as a “gray import”. Strange but true. There aren’t many cars in the auctions like this, but every day you will see a slow trickle coming through.

Under the hood, you’ll find that this 2010 Infiniti FX35 features a Nissan VQ35HR engine, which was first introduced back in 2007. Nissan used this engine in many of their performance-oriented upscale models because it’s both responsive and powerful. Stats-wise, it’s a 3.5L “High Revolution” V6 engine that outputs 303hp. Paired with a seven-speed transmission, Infiniti claims that many of the internal components were tuned up for this model to allow it to perform well at higher RPM ranges, allowing for an agile and responsive ride.

At the time of its launch, the only qualm any reviewer ever had about the 2010 Infiniti FX35 was its lack of cargo space. But, if you want something comfortable, fun and cool in an SUV-sized package, you’ll be hard pressed to find a better option than this.
