Japanese Car Auction Find – 2012 Lexus GS 250 Version L
Yesterday Lexus showed us teasers for the all-new 2016 Lexus GS F saloon they plan to debut at next month’s 2015 Detroit Motor Show. So, today we figured we’d take a look inside our Integrity Exports auction database to see what kind of Lexus GS models there were to choose from.
Just select ‘Lexus’ and ‘GS’ from the drop-down menus, then click the Search button, and voila! It literally took less than 30 seconds to find 20 different Lexus GS models up for auction in Japan, not a one of them rated below a 4. The one we really liked is this beautiful 2012 model – a Lexus GS 250 Version L.
You can see that this is a fairly new Lexus model just from the grille. Even though it doesn’t have the spindle mesh texture of the newer models, it still has the large, pinched shape that lets you know you’re looking at a Lexus. This particular auction find has an overall rating of 5, which, among other things, can give you peace of mind in the quality of the exterior. You’ll see on the auction sheet at the bottom of this blog post that there are only a few very minor scratches in the paint.
Under the hood, you’ll find the GS 250’s namesake 2.5L petrol engine (code 4GR-FSE) with dual VVT-i and D4 direct injection. Power output is 204 horsepower at 6,400 RPM, and engine torque is 192 lb-ft at 3,800 RPM. Even though this is the smallest displacement engine Lexus offers in the GS in any market, you’ll still enjoy a smooth and sporty ride.
Moving into the interior is when you really start to notice the benefits of buying a midsize sedan. All passengers will enjoy ample legroom, especially in the front. And even though the GS 250 is a relatively basic model, the Version L we see here still boasts plush leather seats, built-in navigation, a spacious dashboard and a subtly built-in analog clock for that extra pinch of class. Additional amenities include:
- Backup camera
- Push-button ignition
- 10-way power seats
- Multi-function steering
- Fully automatic transmission with steering-wheel mounted paddle shifters
- LED headlights
- Remote Touch mouse-controller to make it easier to use the 12.3 inch widescreen while you’re driving
All in all, this 2012 Lexus GS 250 is an excellent Japanese car auction find, made all the more so by the fact that the GS 250 is actually unavailable in the US. The smaller displacement models like this one were generally marketed towards Japan, China, Europe and Australia.
