Japanese Car Auction Find – 2012 Nissan Teana 250XL

Since Nissan has just showed us official images for the 2016 Nissan Maxima, we thought today would be a good day to showcase an older Maxima model up for auction in Japan.

Anytime you’re looking for a specific model in our Integrity Exports Japanese car auction database, it’s always a good idea to double-check the Japanese production name. In this case, the Maxima is sold as the Teana in Japan. So, today we’re looking at a 2012 Nissan Teana:

2012 Nissan Teana auction find

The Nissan Teana is sold in Japan as a luxury midsize sedan. Today’s model is a badge-engineered Japanese version of the US Altima, but back in 2012, the car was its own distinct model. This would’ve been the last model year in the Teana’s second generation of production. Codenamed J32, the second-gen Teana was built on the same Nissan D platform used in the Maxima and Murano.

As you can see on the auction sheet at the bottom of this post, this particular auction find is a Nissan Teana 250XL Sport Selection. That means it features a special high-torque 2.5L petrol engine paired with a DOHC supercharger that, all told, outputs 165 bhp at 5600 rpm and 180 lb-ft of torque at 4000 rpm. This is more torque at a lower rev than every other 2012 Teana model except the top-of-the-line 350XV version.

Looking at the car’s design, you can clearly see that this is an entry-level premium sports car. The body is smooth and refined, with clean-cut chrome accents that extend back from the fog lights along the side of the car. The grille is a 2012 classic – the thick horizontal grille that was a Nissan favorite just a couple years ago.

The second-gen Teana’s aesthetics may be a bit on the plain side by today’s standards, but the car looks good and this auction find is in great shape, so it’s hard to complain.

The interior is a fitting follow-up to the exterior design. It’s very, very spacious with oodles of leg room for both front and rear passengers. The seats are comfortable with leather upholstery, and the dashboard is simple and easy to navigate. It doesn’t have any fancy LCD screens, but it does have a digital display for music and vehicle information.

All in all, this 2012 Nissan Teana 250XL Sport Selection is in great shape with an interior grade of B and an overall rating of 4.5. For more details, continue reading below the auction sheet:
