Japanese Car Auction Find – 2014 Subaru Levorg 1.6GT-S
Late last week we looked at a new aftermarket kit from Subaru called the Levorg S Concept. Discussing that kit made us realize that we’ve yet to spotlight any of Subaru’s new compact wagons in our Japanese car auction database. So, today we fired up Integrity Exports and found this beautiful near-new Levorg 1.6GT-S that we really think you’ll like:
As we mentioned in that previous blog post, the Levorg has been a huge hit in Japan. It’s only been on sale for one year in Subaru’s domestic market, but already it has received a wide array of accolades, including Japan’s Good Design Award 2014. As a 2014MY, today’s auction find is one of those award-winning models in a metallic black paint job.
The Levorg is currently offered with two powertrains – a 1.6L boxer with direct-injection turbo (DIT) that outputs roughly 168 hp, and a sportier 2.0L H4 DOHC turbo engine that outputs a hefty 295hp.
Both engines utilize Subaru’s newly developed DIT compression technology, and the smaller one in particular offers truly exceptional fuel efficiency and surprising performance given the horsepower. In fact, the 1.6L is so impressive that it won Japan Combustion Society’s “Technology Award” in 2014, and Subaru plans to adopt the technology into the Levorg’s international cousins like the Legacy and Impreza ASAP.
Today’s auction find is a 2014 Levorg 1.6GT-S EyeSight, which means it’s a slightly sportier base model powered by one of those new super-efficient, smaller displacement engines. But, you’ll enjoy immense fuel savings with a superb 41 miles to the gallon, or 17.4 km/l. With the Lineartronic CVT, you’ll enjoy classic Subaru smoothness, with the capability for a surprisingly engaging drive via the transmission’s Subaru Intelligent Drive mode (SI-Drive).
As you can see, the exterior aesthetic of the Subaru Levorg is a big reason why this wagon has done so well. The 1.6GT-S model in particular offers the perfect mix of sporty and functional. It gets those extra premium touches like the piano black mesh grille and prominent front spoilers, complete with Subaru’s hawk eye headlights. Plus, you can’t go wrong with a hood scoop like that, and the ever-so-slight rear spoiler is a nice touch. We also particularly like those eye-catching gunmetal alloys that solidify the car’s overall high-tech look.
The interior of this 2014 Levorg 1.6GT-S is a perfect follow-up to the exterior design. While you won’t get the leather upholstery of true premium cars, the actual design and layout of the cabin could have you fooled. Even with cloth, the seats are very comfortable and high-quality, and you’ll really enjoy the dual-screen system Subaru employs on the dash. One screen is for navigation, the other is for infotainment and safety features.
All in all, we’re happy to see the Subaru Levorg finally making its way into Japanese car auctions.
