Mitsubishi is Interested in Electric F1-type Series

The FIA has been floating the idea of making an all-electric racing series in the vein of F1. While there is a degree of resistance to this kind of technological advancement within F1 itself, especially from makers that are not particularly known for their green road cars, there has been interest generated outside the traditional single-seat racer producing world.

Mitsubishi, for example,  is focusing its efforts increasingly on the EV sector, and sees this series as having grade complementary potential. The extremes of motorsport would certainly be a challenge – particularly in the area of battery technology. Given that this is what is holding back the acceptance of electric vehicles in the market place, a push from motorsport development would be extremely welcome.
