Mitsubishi Lancer Evo X Final Concept Revealed
We’ve known for a while that the Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution sports car doesn’t have much time left on the market. Then, a month ago things got a lot more real when Mitsubishi US’ executive VP, Don Swearingen, told automotive blog Motor Trend in plain English that there will be no replacement for the model after the 2015MY. “It’s time has come and gone,” are the exact words he used.
However, just as we’d expect for a car like the Lancer Evo, the Japanese automaker is determined to see the Lancer Evolution go out in style. So, to commemorate its final year on the market, Mitsubishi is going to release a special edition model for enthusiasts and fans alike as a way of bidding adieu. Today we got our first glimpse of the special edition model, fittingly called the Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution X Final Concept (shown above), which will take a bow at the upcoming 2015 Tokyo Auto Salon later this week.
Not to be confused with the Tokyo Motor Show which we just wrapped up last November, the Tokyo Auto Salon is an aftermarket tuning show – similar to the USA’s SEMA show – which is the perfect place to showcase a tuned up Final Evo with a fancy bodykit like the one we see here.
Along with the image preview, Mitsubishi gave us a few interesting specs to chew on while we wait for the Evo X Final Concept to hit the floor later this week. Basically, it’ll be a Lancer Evolution GSR model with a specially tuned five-speed standard transmission and a custom version of the HKS-tuned four-cylinder 2.0L turbocharged engine. Automotive blog Motor Authority tells us to expect an astronomical 473 hp – increasing the standard Evo’s power output by almost 70%.
Japanese Car Auction Find – 2013 Mitsubishi Mirage G
Unfortunately, there are no Mitsubishi Lancer Evo models up for auction in Japan at the time of this writing. However, there are plenty of other stellar Mitsubishis to choose from – our personal favorite of which is the Mitsubishi Mirage hatchback (formerly known as the Mitsubishi Colt).
This find is a 2013 Mitsubishi Mirage G with a pristine Pearl White paint job. Of course, this little hatchback won’t give you the same jaw-clenching performance of Mitsubishi’s upcoming Evo X Final Concept, but if you’re looking for a stable and reliable hatchback with all of the conventional amenities, then this is the perfect auction find for you.
You’ll enjoy a fully automatic transmission, air conditioning and electric windows, and a fuel-sipping 1.0L engine paired with the lowest drag coefficient of any model in its class. Keep reading below the auction sheet to get a full translation of this great little Japanese car auction find:
