Nissan Launches New Tiida at Shanghai Auto Show 2011
Nissan launched a new version of the compact hatch called the Tiida that they sell in 165 countries around the world at the Shanghai Motor Show today. Along with the sedan version, this car is the biggest selling model for Nissan. In the Chinese market where the launch occurred, 85,000 units of this model were sold in 2010.
The spacious interior of the old model has been made even larger, and has also been moved upmarket. The exterior dimensions of the car have also increased slightly, with the wheelbase increasing by 10cm.
The car uses Nissan7s HR16DE 4-cylinder 1.6 liter engine mated to CVT transmission. There is also an option for a turbocharged unit, that is apparently the first turbocharged engine to be offered by a Japanese manufacturer in the Chinese market.
Nissan is planning on introducing the new Tiida in 130 countries by 2014.
