Nissan Note NISMO Coming to Japan This Fall w/ Photos
Today Nissan has revealed the next vehicle in their lineup to get the NISMO treatment. It’s the 2015 Nissan Note NISMO. We can safely say that after seeing this, you’ll never look at Nissan’s popular-but-bland little hatchback the same way again.
If you’re anything like us, you never thought that a Nissan Note could turn heads. With a new, premium mesh grille, vibrant NISMO red trim and side skirts, custom twin-spoke alloys, a resculpted front- and rear-end and a customary rear spoiler, this upscale performance hatch gives even the best European brands a run for their money.
The NISMO-badged version of the Nissan Note is set to go on sale in Japan this fall. The folks over at Autoblog.com asked Nissan NA’s Product Communications Director, Dan Bedore, if they had any plans for a Versa NISMO in the US. His answer, “There are no plans currently for a NISMO Versa Note in the US.”
If you’re reading this in the US, you have our permission to go grab a tissue. We cried too; it’s okay. We’ll be here waiting when you get back.
Even if you’re one of the lucky few in a market with access to the future Nissan Note NISMO, we don’t yet know exactly what you can expect from the sporty hatchback. Nissan revealed very few details about their new low-riding hot hatch, specific powertrain specs being one of the many things left out.
However, the press release does tell us to expect “high-level performance with total balance” thanks to a combination of new powertrain, chassis, tire, suspension and aerodynamic technologies. The Note NISMO S trim in particular will be equipped with a blissfully tuned engine. Mated to a five-speed gearbox, Nissan describes how the driver will be able to “tap into the powerplant’s fruitful supply of low-end torque, resulting in a thoroughly pleasurable driving experience.”
Inside, you’ll find that both trims of the Nissan Note NISMO exhibit the perfect blend of performance and premium. The interior has been redecorated to match the NISMO color-scheme of the exterior, while the NISMO S trim also gives you the option of beautiful NISMO Recaro bucket seats (below).
Even though there’s a lot we still don’t know about the new Nissan Note NISMO, there’s no doubt that it will be an impressive vehicle to both see and drive. The aesthetics are perfect – both aggressive and refined – while the sports tuning and custom powertrain will surely yield a smooth, exhilarating ride. We can probably expect to get full details about the new hot hatch when the car goes on sale this fall, perhaps at the 2014 Tokyo Motor Show.
