What is Mazda Planning to Reveal at the Tokyo Auto Salon?

he Tokyo Auto Salon, arguably one of Japan’s largest annual auto shows featuring custom cars and technology, is only a few days away. It takes place every year in January and features some of the most highly anticipated reveals in the industry.

This year, it’s being held at the Makuhari Messe International Convention Complex in Chiba, Japan. It’s poised to open its doors Friday, Jan. 15, 2016.
This year, it is anticipated that Mazda will be unveiling a surprise – there has been a lot of talk about the possibility of a new generation of MazdaSpeed!

Among car enthusiasts, the rumors have been that Mazda has been developing the new vehicle for quite some time, with plans to reveal it at the 2016 Tokyo Auto Salon. Even if it’s just a concept car this revealed, it is an event that we have been waiting for ever so patiently.

Right now, it’s only a rumor. However, if the rumors are correct, then we’re in for a big treat at this year’s car show. The MazdaSpeed offers greater speed and performance over other Mazda vehicles and the trim has been a favorite among car enthusiasts for a long time.

The Tokyo Auto Salon has been the platform of choice for almost 30 years by the world’s most creative automakers to get together and reveal the futuristic concept cars of tomorrow. It’s always a refreshing experience to find out what the auto industry plans on bringing us in the future.

The MazdaSpeed is a compact, hatchback sports car that, while not too expensive, is always on the shopping list of custom car builders. The aftermarket for the MazdaSpeed is huge, and barely beginning to get tapped.

If the Japanese automaker is on track, they should have two new rotary-powered sports cars out by 2020: a new RX-9 (?) flagship and RX-7 successor, also in the works.
