Car Auction Grades 7, 8, 9 and S

Car auctions in Japan use a grading system to help the bidder understand the overall quality level of the car. Grades 7, 8, 9 and S refer to basically brand new cars with only delivery mileage. The only thing you have to watch for with these is that some will have manufacturing defects in them, particularly cosmetic ones.

The video below talks you through a typical example of one of these grades. In this case the car is graded 8. The only practical difference between these grades 7, 8, 9 and S is that different auction houses use different ones, but they are all referring to the same level of quality.
