Nissan has revealed its latest Nismo-tuned model, the Nissan 370Z Nismo.

The Nissan 370Z coupe is set to go on sale in the summer with a host of modifications aimed at making it a more focused performance tool.

The 3.7-litre V6 engine's power output has been improved from 324bhp to 335bhp, with torque also said to have been improved by an equivalent amount. In addition, torque will arrive lower down the rev range than in the standard car. No performance claims have been made, but throttle response is said to be improved.

An aerodynamic bodykit has been fitted to the model; it is said to allow the 370Z Nismo to produce as much downforce as a Nissan GT-R.

A large rear diffuser with twin integrated exhausts, fixed rear wing, wider side skirts and a new front end with a splitter are also among the aerodynamic styling changes.

New 19in alloys are fitted with wider 245/40 tyres at the front and 285/35s at the rear. A bespoke tyre compound has been created by Bridgestone for the model.

The Nismo 370Z sits 10mm lower than the standard car, and has updated springs and dampers for a firmer, more focused and more involving drive. Bigger brakes also feature.

Interior upgrades include special Nismo sports seats, an Alcantara-wrapped steering wheel and new red and black trim.

Nissan has also confirmed a hotter version of the Nissan Juke Nismo.

Our Verdict

Nissan 370Z

The Nissan 370Z is seductively honest, entertaining and great value, too. But it’s no long-haul cruiser

Nismo in my mind creates a bigger expecation than 11hp extra.

We have a Juke Nismo and now a 370Z Nismo, I would like a Qashqai Nismo edition when the 2nd Gen Qashqai is launched as I need to trade my 2010 Qashqai Tekna in for one in 2014, Thanks Nissan.

The 370 hasn't made the same impact unlike its successful predecessor. Not quite sure why, it's not exactly a bad car. I think I've only ever seen two 370s since it was launched.

I had one when they were first launched - great car to drive, loads of standard kit, fantastic looks, just rather coarse engine. I think the reason it hasn't sold better is a combination of factors: firstly lack of a premium badge when its main rivals are Audi's BMW's Mercs etc, so a lot of people out for a £30k coupe may not consider going near a Nissan dealer and hence didnt know it existed - lots of people asked what mine was as they had never heard of it. Secondly, the engine being a 3.7 V6 in a world of downsizing and 2.0 turbo engines just had terrible CO2, fuel economy and yearly road tax costs, and there isn't a smaller engine option even though personally I wouldnt want one. Thirdly it is very much an old fashioned "mans" car in that the controls, steering etc felt really meaty, which with the short wheelbase making it a bit twichy in the wet, a firm ride and feeling very rear wheel drive all combined to put off women after a test drive who would be much happier in a shopping trolley TT. Finally despite the performance car magazines such as Evo and Autocar praising the car, it got properly slated by What Car? for not being the comfy dull everyday car that the TT is.

I think it may be similar with the Toyota GT86 - I've hardly seen any on the roads, and some healthy discounts to be had. Just because a car is designed to be a fantastic affordable sports car that the motoring journos like doesn't mean it will necessarily be a great seller.

So, Nissan just need to 'do' a BMW and develop an evolution plan similar to the 3 series coupe? I think the 370z will sell acceptably in the US and middle east, but they'll be as rare as a detox'd cyclist in Europe?!

I have seen on couple of car talk shows the company representatives talking alot about thier upcoming model. They were clamining it to be the best but i do not think it would create a good impact among car lovers like me. There are far better cars then this. It just an average vehicle !!! Nissan  manufaturers will have to be more creative !!

Why not just make it lighter and handle better?, not to much to ask, is it?

The 370Z is exactly the sort of car that appeals to me, except one thing - the strut brace across the boot.  It really does limit the useability of the car from my perspective and I wonder how many people say the same?

As for the Nismo version, it does make the whole package even more desirable but as other have said the biggest sticking point for a lot of people will be the fuel consumption and the related CO2 and tax issues that go with it.

It's all about the twisties........
