The Mitsubishi Attrage, a next-generation 'global compact sedan', will go on sale in Thailand in July.
The company claims that the Attrage features suitably modern styling, outstanding forward visibility, large door openings, excellent manoeuvrability and a turning circle of just 4.8 metres — all features which are beneficial to a small city car.
Reputedly the Mitsubishi's styling helps balance aerodynamics with interior space. Consequently the Attrage, which is based on the Concept G4, is reputed to be the most roomy car in its class while achieving a drag coefficient of 0.29, close to that of the Nissan Leaf.
Power comes from a 1.2-litre MIVEC engine which is coupled to a five-speed manual gearbox or an automatic continuously variable transmission. Thanks to the low drag and efficient engine, the Attrage's average fuel economy is claimed to be 62mpg.
Mitsubishi also says that Attrage offers reassuring handling, stability and a comfortable ride.
Initially the Attrage will be launched in Thailand. Other markets will follow, but according to Mitsubishi it's unlikely that the Attrage will ever reach UK showrooms.

What an eyesore. One of the worst designs I've seen in years - Chinese cars included.

The styling is outrageous.................

Attrage? Atrocious.
Agreeing with everyone else, I thought the Mirage was bad enough but this is ridiculous. I suppose aesthetics aren't the main point for a car like this but even so, it does still have to appeal to customers.

Hmmm ...
Perhaps SAIC can slap the MG badge on it and sell it in the UK as the MG 1 ...

Mitsubishi At Rage.
Well, it doesn't.
Are they trying to be the Japanese alternative to Dacia? Or maybe occupy the space that Kia and Hyundai are vacating? Cos' this looks like stellar competition for the 1st gen Logan and Rio.

Suitably modern styling?
Suitable? No. Modern? No. Styled? No. There's not enough room in this comments box to describe all that's wrong about the look of this car. I'm glad to read it probably won't be coming to the UK. Sadly the desirability of Mitsubishi's cars now appears to be declining at an alarming rate.

The looks are awful, but the thing that grabs my attention is the 4.8m turning circle. Turning in only just more than its own length must involve putting the thing on castors. Even black cabs take 25 feet

25 feet is eight metres for the cab. This car in a claimed 4.8 metres when it's only 4.1 metres long itself. Shurely shome mishtake.

What has happened to Mitsubishi's styling?
This and the Mirage are styling abominations. This does not bode well for Mitsubishi's long term future in the UK. They seem to have taken their eye off the ball big time. The ASX is the only passable car that Mitsubishi sells in the UK at the moment and even that look dated the minute it went on sale.
