Postive Sales Points
The seller will usually include information about aftermarket (AM) parts, standard equipment, whether it has had one owner or not, if it has relatively low mileage, information about service history etc.
Basically, his objective is to anticipate what the buyer may be wanting from the car, and use this information to market his car.
Sometimes there will be very little written, but for other cars there may be a lot of detail. It is entirely up to the seller. And what he decides to tell you are the plus points of his car may not be what you are really interested in.
For example, the seller may write that the car has a Strada HDD navigation system with digital TV, but you don't care about that as you know it's not going to be of any use to you in your country.
Instead, you may really want to know if the car has cruise control or not, but the seller has not mentioned it. Of course, the car may well have cruise control, but the seller has decided to use the limited space available to him to write about different positive aspects of the vehicle.
Heavily customized cars can sometimes have some much detail written about all the different aftermarket parts and which manufacturer they are from that the writing is so small and cramped that it is impossible to read. That really defeats the object of writing anything at all, but this is something we still see on a regular basis.
We're Watching Out For You
We are always watching out for you, as sometimes sellers can be a little unscrupulous by mentioning a problem that the car has but hiding it in among the positive sales points. For example, in among the plus points of “aftermarket navigation system” and “seat heaters”, you may suddenly come across, “front cross member bent” – also marked with a little star and followed by an exclamation point as if it were some sort of positive benefit.
An unobservant car exporter would miss this, but we are careful to ensure that we search out all the issues that the car has - wherever they may be mentioned - and these little tricks do not get fool our auction report translators.
We find that the most successful importers really understand how it all works - from the auction to the ship and beyond. Don't get left behind!
